Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the fourth wave of coronavirus infections “will be prolonged, but not so violent.”

The fourth wave of coronavirus infections is passing through Poland. Daily infection balances already exceed 20,000, and there are fewer and fewer places in hospitals.

Prime Minister: the fourth wave will be extended

Morawiecki – referring to the discussion at the Medical Council – said that “the fourth wave is already with us”. – It will probably be elongated, but not so violent, not with such a large increase in deaths, which is the biggest tragedy – he added.

– We discussed at the medical council what should be done to reduce the scope of this wave. Some good news is that in Podlaskie and Lubelskie, where the pandemic hit the hardest, today the R coefficient is below 1. There is hope that in two weeks this wave will also fall in other voivodeships – said the Prime Minister.

– But it should be noted that the efficiency of our health system, hospitals, also has its limits. And unvaccinated people get sick much more severely and die more often, ‘he said.

Prime Minister: we want to discuss with the opposition an act enabling the verification of vaccination of employees

The prime minister also said that the government wanted to “discuss” with the opposition parties a project that would allow, among other things, for the employer to control whether the employee is vaccinated. – We want to talk about whether the proposed project will have a majority to implement it – he explained.

– When we go to a restaurant, we want the employee who serves us to be examined. Sanepid checked it before the epidemic. Same here – it doesn’t mean some “segregation” as some say. A citizen who comes to an office should have the right to know if he or she is safe, he emphasized.

He added that such provisions would mean that the employer “could shift some of the employees to work without clients, without direct contact, or to work remotely”. – In order to get through this fourth and possibly fifth winter wave of coronavirus as smoothly as possible – he explained.
