The Ministry of Health announced 18,550 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection on Wednesday. The ministry also said that 269 people suffering from COVID-19 have died. During the last 24 hours, 578 people were admitted to hospitals. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,143,725 infections have been confirmed in Poland, a total of 78,250 people have died due to the coronavirus.
The Ministry of Health’s announcement shows that the highest number of new infections in the last 24 hours was confirmed in Mazowieckie voivodship – 3872. The remaining cases concern the following voivodeships: Lubelskie (1913), Śląskie (1704), Łódzkie (1291), Dolnośląskie (1208), Wielkopolskie (1152), Małopolskie (1124), Podlaskie (1056), Pomeranian (1006), Zachodniopomorskie (931), Podkarpackie (795), Kuyavian-Pomeranian (705), Warmian-Masurian (697), Opole (364), Świętokrzyskie (307), Lubuskie (271).
154 infections are data without specifying an address, which are to be completed by the sanitary inspection.
18,550 new infections is the highest daily report since April 15. A week ago, the Ministry of Health reported 10,429 confirmed infections. Today’s infection rate is 8,121 higher. That’s an increase of almost 78 percent.
The average number of confirmed daily infections, calculated on the basis of data from the last seven days, exceeded 14,000 for the first time since April 20.
The ministry said on Wednesday that 269 people died193 of which had comorbidities.
The 269 death toll is the highest daily report since May 19.
The average number of daily fatalities reported, also calculated from the past seven days, has exceeded 150, the highest since May 25.

Wednesday’s epidemic report shows that:
– 17 137 beds are intended for patients with COVID-19 (+567 compared to the previous day), – of this 11 588 beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients (+578), – 1529 ventilators are intended for patients with COVID-19 (+52), – of which 951 respirators are currently used (+37), – 343 539 people are quarantined (- 38 356), – 2,761,194 people recovered (+2736).
The number of patients in hospitals is at its highest since May 17. The number of patients treated with ventilators is at its highest since May 25.
A week ago, on November 3, there were 8,257 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, 692 of them under ventilators. Two weeks ago, on October 27, the Ministry of Health reported that 5,601 people were hospitalized, including 464 under ventilators.
Karaska: black scenarios say 40,000 infections a day
Deputy Minister of Health Waldemar Kraska in Wednesday’s interview with Radio Zet indicated that in the case of the Delta mutation, severe symptoms appear much faster. “Delta is practically 100 percent at the moment,” he revealed. – The forecasts that we have at the moment, in these black scenarios, are about 40,000 daily cases of coronavirus infection. Andrusiewicz: mostly hospitalizations and deaths related to vaccinated people concern people who have at least two comorbidities
On Monday, the data on infections announced that day was commented on by the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Wojciech Andrusiewicz. – If we look at the percentage increases, they have been identical in recent days. We are at about 50 percent week-on-week growth. Today’s result is also close to 50 percent growth compared to last Monday – he said.
He pointed out that, according to the data obtained by the ministry, “mostly difficult hospitalizations and deaths related to vaccinated people, as they also happen, concern people who have at least two comorbidities”. – That is why we care so much that people with impaired immunity, the elderly use the third dose – he added.
