The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday 12,493 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection. The ministry also said that 24 people suffering from COVID-19 have died. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,104,220 infections have been confirmed in Poland, a total of 77,757 people have died due to the coronavirus.
12,493 new infections, reported by the Ministry of Health, are the highest on Sunday report of the Ministry of Health since April 11. A week ago, the Ministry of Health informed about 7,145 confirmed infections. The number of infections today is higher by 5348. That’s an increase of 75 percent.
According to the Ministry of Health’s announcement, the greatest number of new infections in the last 24 hours was confirmed in Mazowieckie voivodship – 2846.
The remaining cases concern the following voivodeships: Lubelskie (1288), Śląskie (1004), Wielkopolskie (941), Łódzkie (902), Małopolskie (820), Dolnośląskie (709), Podlaskie (637), Pomorskie (565), Podkarpackie (553), Zachodniopomorskie (539), Warmian-Masurian (411), Kujawsko-Pomorskie (399), Opolskie (277), Lubuskie (253) and Świętokrzyskie (216).
133 infections are data without specifying an address, which are to be completed by the sanitary inspection.
The average number of confirmed daily infections, calculated on the basis of data from the last seven days, has exceeded 11,000 and is the highest since April 23.
The number of active cases, i.e. Poles who are currently infected, is 282 148 and is the highest since April 22.
The ministry said on Sunday that 24 people died15 of them had comorbidities.

Data from hospitals
Sunday’s epidemic data report shows that:
– 15 586 beds are intended for patients with COVID-19 (+544 compared to the previous day), – of this 9788 beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients (+315), – 1412 ventilators are intended for patients with COVID-19 (+46), – of which 857 respirators are currently in use (+59), – 376 479 people are quarantined (- 24 342), – 2 744 315 people recovered (+8023).
The number of patients in hospitals is at its highest since May 19. The number of patients treated with ventilators is at its highest since May 27. Compared to yesterday’s report by the ministry, 59 patients have increased under ventilators. This is the highest such daily gain since April 11.
