Prime Minister: The fifth COVID-19 wave has become a reality

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Friday during a joint press conference with Health Minister Adam Niedzielski, referring to the epidemic situation, emphasized that “the fifth wave has become a fact”. As he added, it differs from the previous ones.

– The difference is that today we are dealing with a virus called omicron, which is much more contagious than earlier versions – noted Morawiecki. – This is why we keep records of infections and this is why we have to face a new situation, a different situation that has not happened so far – he pointed out.

Morawiecki noted that “all countries affected by the omicron virus mutation have recorded record waves of infections”. – I do not want to speculate whether it will be 50 or 100 thousand with us. I have seen analyzes and such, and even up to 140,000 daily infections, but it will certainly be a lot. That is why we must prepare for it as best we can, said the head of government.
