Waldemar Kraska, deputy head of the Ministry of Health, spoke about the current situation related to the pandemic in Poland in the First Program of Polish Radio. – We have exceeded over two thousand daily infections. (…) 2085 cases to be exact. If we compare to last Wednesday, this is an increase of 70 percent, so we can see that the fourth wave is definitely starting to accelerate. Also 33 people died – informed Kraska.
The deputy head of the health ministry added that the data should persuade all unvaccinated people to go to the vaccination point and vaccinate against COVID-19.
– This is really the last moment when we should get vaccinated, so I appeal to all of you – let’s get vaccinated, because we can see that the fourth wave is definitely accelerating in those provinces where there are the least vaccinated people – Kraska appealed. He mentioned the Lublin region, Podkarpacie and Podlasie.
Kraska: over two thousand COVID-19 patients in hospitals
The deputy head of the health ministry said that this situation translates into the number of people sent to hospitals. – Here, too, we have already exceeded the number of two thousand patients, in 2013 we currently have COVID-19 patients in Polish hospitals. There are also more people staying in intensive care units connected to ventilators – he said.
He added that vaccinated people account for less than a percentage of hospitalized people. Meanwhile, medics and people over 50 can already take the third dose of the vaccine. The deputy minister stressed that its adoption was justified.
At the same time, he appealed to remember to wear masks, to keep distance and to disinfect. “They really are simple methods that we should remember every day, and I think we’ve already forgotten,” he added.
