A 27-year-old woman with a multiple pregnancy was hospitalized in Gdańsk. The test showed a coronavirus infection. After giving birth, symptoms of COVID-19 appeared immediately. The woman’s condition deteriorated to the point that she was taken, separated from the children, and attached to a respirator. Doctors called her recovery a miracle. And they urge pregnant women to vaccinate against COVID-19.

A woman with a multiple pregnancy came to the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk on Friday, October 29. She was supposed to have children and go home. However, the test showed that she was infected with the coronavirus. As it turned out, she was not vaccinated against COVID-19. The delivery was performed by caesarean section. After the procedure – according to medics – the 27-year-old quickly developed symptoms of infection, including severe respiratory failure.

The woman’s condition continued to deteriorate. In the end, she had to leave her children, and on November 1 she was taken to the Copernicus Hospital for intensive care. As it turned out, 75 percent of her lungs were affected and she had blockages. The young mother was connected to a respirator.

Doctor: It is safe to vaccinate pregnant women

The 27-year-old woman was intubated for a week and was given antiviral drugs. The doctors’ efforts finally paid off. The woman’s condition began to improve. She was finally able to return to the children, to the UCK hospital.

The doctors called the case of a woman a real miracle. As the unofficial TVN24 reporter found out, when a woman was asked why she did not get vaccinated, she replied that someone advised her against it because she was pregnant.

Doctors, in turn, ensure that vaccination during pregnancy is safe.

– Pregnant women can have the vaccine, it is safe for them. I encourage pregnant women to get vaccinated because it is primarily taking care of their own health and the health of their own child – emphasizes Jerzy Karpiński, a Pomeranian provincial doctor. And he adds: – The consequences of a serious complication, a serious disease that may end, I repeat it many times, even with death. It is (vaccination-ed.) Very safe, emphasize it by the American Food and Drug Administration, as well as Polish specialists.
