The apogee of the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is expected at the turn of November and December – said Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski in “Rozmowa Piasecki”. When asked about possible restrictions for unvaccinated people, the head of the health ministry noted that “various regulations can be introduced, but these regulations should be used by properly analyzed social preferences.”
Health Minister Adam Niedzielski, who was a guest of “Rozmowy Piasecki” on Wednesday, was asked about the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland. As he said, “the apogee will be at the turn of November and December”. – The forecasts include numbers from 10,000 to 80,000. These are such enormous figures that seem unrealistic from this position – said the head of the Ministry of Health. He added that the scenarios of 15,000 new infections in October have failed.
– The number of vaccinations with which we are already dealing is a natural barrier. The fourth wave accelerates differently than the second one, which we dealt with in September last year, he added.
What about restrictions for the unvaccinated?
When asked about possible restrictions for unvaccinated people, the head of the Ministry of Health noted that “there are different public moods”. “ We are conducting a social study that talks about attitudes towards vaccination and we see that this vaccine-propensity level has stopped at 70 percent. At the moment, we have the adult population vaccinated at 60 percent, so we don’t have that much space anymore – he explained.
– You can introduce various regulations, but these regulations should correspond to properly analyzed social preferences. If 30 percent are reluctant, we do not want to use coercive measures, because vaccinations are supposed to be voluntary – he added.
