The US President’s chief medical adviser warns that if the coronavirus continues to spread, sooner or later a variant will emerge that will be even more problematic than Delta. Dr. Anthony Fauci says vaccines may prove ineffective against the new variants.

“There is a danger that a mutation will arise that cannot be protected by currently available vaccines,” the expert said on Sunday.

Fauci warns of an increase in infections

In his opinion, it is necessary to take full control of the pandemic, and the best way to do that is through vaccination. Earlier, Fauci had warned to prepare for the worsening of the situation. He explained that in the United States, about 100 million vaccinees have received no dose of the COVID-19 preparation.

The US is currently facing a sharp increase in the epidemic caused by the Delta variant. According to the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, the daily average of new COVID-19 cases in the US has already exceeded 100,000. There are the most of them in almost six months.
