The COVID-19 epidemic continues, and some countries are seeing an increasing number of coronavirus infections. Slovakia had the highest number of cases since late May and the highest number of deaths this year on Wednesday.
Slovakia has recorded the most new infections with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus since the end of May in the last 24 hours, as announced on Wednesday by the Ministry of Health. Laboratories in this country of five million have confirmed 1,459 infections. 14 deaths of people suffering from COVID-19 have also been registered. This is the highest result this year.
More than half a thousand people in hospitals with suspected infections. 85 percent were unvaccinated
In Slovakia, the rate of spread of the coronavirus began to pick up in August. There are 531 patients with suspected COVID-19 in hospitals. According to the ministry, 85 percent of them were unvaccinated. To date, 2,322,259 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
On Wednesday, the government decided that none of the regions will be marked green on the epidemic threat map, which is the lowest epidemic risk. There will be more poviats subject to the most stringent restrictions related to the operation of enterprises and service establishments, organizing mass events, especially when not only vaccinated people participate in them.
Coronavirus infections are increasing in the Czech Republic
A difficult epidemic situation also prevails in Czechiawhere the number of infections is increasing. On Tuesday morning it was reported that 672 cases arrived during the day, which is about 200 more than a week ago and the most since May 24 this year.
Experts indicate that the number of infections is increasing in 2021, similar to a year ago, with the end of the holiday season. The largest number of new cases is in Prague and the Moravian-Silesian country (voivodship – editor’s note). The average number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in these regions was 52 and 51 respectively in the last seven days.
Most hospitalized with COVID-19 since June
206 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Czech hospitals. Recently, there were more such people in the first half of June. There are 36 patients in intensive care units.
According to the ministry’s data, which may however be updated, no deaths were recorded on Monday. It was similar on Sunday. On Saturday, however, two people died. There have been 13 deaths in the past week.
Since the beginning of the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in the Czech Republic, i.e. March 2020, 1.69 million cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed. Most of the people recovered. On the other hand, 30,454 people died.
The health ministry also released vaccination data on Tuesday showing that interest in the COVID-19 vaccine continues to decline. On Monday, less than 9,000 doses were administered, which is about 2.3 thousand. less than a week ago. Since the end of December 2020, when the vaccination campaign began, nearly 11.79 million doses of vaccines have been administered. Nearly 6 million Czechs are fully vaccinated.
