– If we are faced with the worst-case scenario, I think that the covid hospital at the National Stadium will be launched within two weeks – said Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski in RMF FM.

Adam Niedzielski was asked when the covid hospitals will start and whether the same hospital will be opened at the National Stadium, like last year at this time.

– If we are dealing with the continuation of this trend all the time – and rather this is the scenario, because we have to prepare solutions for the worst-case scenarios – then I think that the hospital here at the National Stadium will be launched within two weeks – said Niedzielski.

Will there be any further restrictions?

The National Hospital – a branch of the Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration at Wołoska in Warsaw – started operating in November last year as the first temporary hospital in Poland. In May, it suspended operations, and the last patients left the facility.

On Saturday, the minister was also asked if the government would introduce restrictions in Poland in connection with the fourth wave of the coronavirus.

– In the previous year, we already had much more than 20,000, and sometimes even 30,000 infections – I am talking about the previous wave and the settlement of infections. And we had 20,000 hospitalizations. Today we have nine thousand hospitalizations, said the head of the Ministry of Health.

He noted that “it is happening in a situation where the virus we are dealing with is much more infectious, much more virulent.”

Niedzielski reported that on Saturday we have 15,190 coronavirus infections. The increase is still very large and there is more and more virus transmission – he said.
