The Ministry of Health has published guidelines on how to administer a booster dose and an additional booster dose of COVID-19 vaccines. Both are given to fully vaccinated people to strengthen and consolidate post-vaccination protection.

From November 2, they will start vaccinations a booster dose (the so-called third dose) for all persons over 18 years of age who are vaccinated either with two doses (Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderny or AstraZeneki) or one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

– The announcement about vaccination with the third dose is, on the one hand, the result of the recommendation of the Medical Council, and, on the other, very importantly, of the team for preventive vaccinations at the minister of health. The team analyzed all available scientific material for the administration of the third dose. To a large extent, he took into account the indications and recommendations of the American Food and Drug Administration, the Center for Disease Prevention and Control and the Advisory Committee for Protective Vaccinations – described the Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski.

He added that the health ministry is “100% sure that the third dose increases the body’s immunity, which decreases after six months after full vaccination, and on the other hand its administration is also safe”. – So I invite you to the vaccination points. Vaccination is the most effective weapon in the fight against a pandemic. There will be no shortage of vaccines for anyone – assured the minister.

Vaccination with booster dose

Resembling a dose is used in the indicated groups with a distance of at least six months after the completion of the full immunization schedule against COVID-19.

Vaccines may be used in persons vaccinated with a booster dose: Comirnaty (Pfizer / BioNTech) at a full dose of 0.3 ml or Spikevax (Moderny) half dose: 50 µg – 0.25 ml.

In order to correctly fill in the vaccination e-card for the booster dose, go to the website office: office.gov.pl, in the field “number of the administered dose”, select “Reminder”. If half the dose of Spikevax has been administered, enter 0.25 in the field “amount of vaccine administered”.Ministry of Health

Vaccination with an additional supplementary dose

They are starting too vaccination with an additional supplementary dose, which it is given to people with impaired immunityin whom the immune response to vaccination may not have been adequate. It is administered to achieve optimal protection. These include people:

– receiving active anti-cancer therapy, – after organ transplants receiving immunosuppressants or biological therapies, – after stem cell transplant within the last two years, – with moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency syndromes, – with HIV infection, – currently treated with high doses of corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress the immune response, – chronic dialysis for renal failure.

The additional dose is administered with an interval of at least 28 days after completion of the primary vaccination schedule in people over 12 years of age who have received the full vaccination schedule (two doses) with Comirnata, Spikevax or Vaxzevria. Currently, according to the Ministry of Health, there are insufficient data to support the administration of an additional dose in immunocompromised people vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson COVID-19.

The vaccine is given to people over 12 years of age Comirnaty or full dose Spikevax (0.5 ml) with the primary consideration of the administration of the vaccine determined by the primary vaccination.

In adults, who underwent basic vaccination with the preparation Vaxzevria use a vaccine Comirnaty, or full dose Spikevax.

In order to correctly fill in the vaccination e-card for the additional dose, please go to the website office.gov.pl, in the field “number of the administered dose”, select “3”.Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health announced in a press release that the usefulness of serological tests to assess the immune response to vaccination has not been established. Resort does not recommend serological testing to assess response to vaccination prior to administration of an additional dose and a booster dose.

The announcement also stated that in the absence of an automatically issued e-referral, the doctor at the vaccination point may independently issue an e-referral for vaccination to eligible persons, assessing the interval from the last vaccination: minimum 180 days in the case of a booster dose or minimum 28 days in the case of an additional dose.
