Countdown to a Pole's flight. There is already a TVN24 BIS reporter

On Tuesday, June 10 at 14.23 of our time, the start of the AX-4 mission with the Pole Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski on board is planned. With him, three more astronauts will fly: commander Peggy Whitson from the US Hungarian.

At the Cape Vełyka Canaveral in Florida, from where the Axiom Space mission starts, Hubert Kijek from TVN24 Bis flew, which follows the preparation process. The flight of four astronauts with a Pole in the composition has recently been postponed several times. As the reporter said, this is what the nature of this type of events looks like, and the shifts are caused, among others, by the weather. The place where the flight starts is near the equator, which means “here the weather changes like in a kaleidoscope.”

– There may be rain at any time, which will disturb the start of the rocket, but we keep our fingers crossed so that the start date is 14.23 of Polish time – said the Kijek.

As reported by the reporter, Dr. Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski will become the second Pole in Orbit, and the first at the International Space Station. Interestingly, he will start from position 39a, which has been entered in history in a special way.

– This is a very interesting place, because it was from this place that the Americans first flew to the moon for the first time – added the reporter.

In recent days, all members of the future mission were on quarantine, which was to provide astronauts with isolation from viruses, bacteria or the risk of injury that may happen before the flight. As the reporter said, probably on Friday everyone will be able to meet his family for the last time, but in the conditions of maintaining all security measures. The isolation period, however, abounds in various activities.

As Uznański -Wiśniewski told me, he woke up around five o'clock and from six he started working, exercises, contacted scientists to make all the experiments he took with him, were properly carried out – explained the Kijek. He added that the tasks of astronauts also included repeating all emergency procedures. Specialists from various ranges are also closed with participants of the mission during quarantine. These include Chefs or trainers.

The participation of a Pole of the AX-4 mission is the result of a contract signed between the Polish Ministry of Development and Technology and the European Space Agency to prepare and conduct the Ignis scientific and technological mission at the International Space Station (ISS) within 14 days. As part of it, 13 experiments will be carried out in orbit, which concern, among others medicine, biology, biotechnology and engineering sciences. Several periods have also been planned, during which the Polish astronaut will make connections with native amateur radio.
