“The proposed limit of expenditures from the state budget on shielding allowances in 2022 amounts to PLN 4.1 billion. The funds allocated to the payment of shielding allowances will come from the state budget and from the sale (by way of an auction) of emission allowances” – it was written.

In view of the above, the draft proposes the following rates of shielding supplement:

– for a household run by a single person – PLN 400

– for a household of 2 to 3 people – PLN 600;

– for a household of 4 to 5 people – PLN 850;

– for a household of at least 6 people – PLN 1150.

Cover allowance – income criterion

The draft states that the cover allowance will be granted to a household whose income does not exceed PLN 2,100 in a single-person household or PLN 1,500 per person in a multi-person household.

“The proposed financial support in the form of a protective allowance will support their budgets and increase the sense of energy and social security. The protective allowance is part of the anti-inflation shield presented in November 2021 by the Prime Minister – a solution prepared as a tool to help households in 2022” – indicated in the assumptions of the project in the list of legislative works of the government.

Anti-inflationary shield

On Thursday, the Sejm hosted the first reading of the government’s draft amendment to the excise duty act and the retail sales tax act. It is part of the government’s anti-inflationary shield, which will also include changes in VAT rates for electricity, gas and system heat.

All clubs were in favor of being referred for further work in the governmental committee a project aimed at lowering excise duties on fuels and electricitywhich is also part of the anti-inflationary shield. In the opinion of the rulers, these solutions are intended to curb inflation, while the opposition believes that these are sham measures.
