In Pomerania, in the first half of September, over three thousand people were recorded with COVID-19. In reality, there may be five times more of them – said Jerzy Karpiński, director of the Health Department at the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office in Gdańsk.
Jerzy Karpiński, director of the Health Department at the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office in Gdańsk, spoke about the alarming statistics in an interview with a TVN24 reporter.
– From March to June we had (in Pomerania – ed.) a very small number of cases of COVID-19ranged from 20 to 30 cases, there were no problems in hospitals. However, in July, in the first half, there were almost 500 cases, and in the second one thousand. In August, in the first half, one and a half thousand, in the second there were over two thousand. In September, at the moment, in the first half, we have already recorded over three thousand cases of COVID-19 – Karpiński enumerated.
He noted that “there could realistically be five times more cases of these diseases, because these are cases recorded by primary health care and this information is sent to the sanitary inspection office”. – This is the only information we have, but there are definitely more cases of diseases – he indicated.
Karpiński: peak of disease incidence at the turn of October and November
Karpiński added that “the peak of the disease is expected at the end of October and beginning of November”. – There will definitely be a significant increase in COVID-19 cases – he said. He noted that a negligible number of flu and RSV cases are recorded. – These are a few, a dozen or so cases, so COVID-19 is the leading viral infection – he emphasized.
As he explained, the current variant of COVID-19 is KP3, which “does not have such tragic symptoms as during the pandemic”. – These are primarily muscle pain, weakness, temperature, slight shortness of breath. These people do not require intensive oxygen therapy, so in my opinion these will be symptoms similar to flu symptoms – he said.
