Jerzy S. accused of driving while intoxicated
Jerzy S. in mid-October led to a collision with a 44-year-old motorcyclist on Aleja Mickiewicza in Krakow. While driving a car, he hit the elbow of a man driving a two-wheeler, who, fortunately, was not hurt. After the collision, he drove on and was stopped by a motorcyclist in a different place. He continued driving because – as he later explained to the police – he did not notice the collision.
The police officers who were called to the scene gave the actor a breathalyzer test. As TVN24 journalists found out, the actor had 0.7 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air. Jerzy S. lost his driving license.
At the end of November, the actor was charged with driving while intoxicated. In the Kraków-Krowodrza District Prosecutor’s Office, Jerzy S. was questioned as a suspect and made a statement.
The indictment against Jerzy S. for driving while intoxicated was submitted to the District Court for Kraków-Krowodrza in the last days of December.
Jerzy S. pleaded guilty and apologized
First of all, he admitted to driving while under the influence of alcohol. This was due to the fact that he had an appointment with a certain person who reminded him of this meeting suddenly, because he had forgotten. Therefore, feeling good a few hours after drinking alcohol, he got into the car and went to the meeting, said the spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Krakow, prosecutor Janusz Hnatko.
The day after the incident, the actor’s statement was published by his son, also a famous actor, who admitted that “the events of the last 24 hours have been devastating for him and his family.” Ladies and Gentlemen, I deeply regret and apologize that yesterday I made the worst decision in my life to drive a car, wrote the artist.
Jerzy S. is liable to a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to two years.
