The Central Anticorruption Bureau initiated an inspection of the Municipal Greenery Management Board in Krakow. This concerns public procurement from 2019-2023.

“Officers of the Control Proceedings Department of the CBA Branch in Krakow have been conducting, since May 29, 2024, an inspection of the procedures for making and implementing decisions specified by law regarding the award of public procurement by the Municipal Greenery Board in Krakow in the years 2019-2023,” it said on Wednesday Central Anticorruption Bureau.

The inspection should be completed within three months and may be extended to a maximum of six months if necessary.

– As an inspection institution, we cannot provide information related to the inspection beyond that already provided by the CBA – said ZZM spokeswoman Aleksandra Mikolaszek.

Since 2015, Piotr Kempf has been the director of ZZM PSL. In February, he was appointed director of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Krakow. His position in the greenery management board was taken by the current deputy director of this municipal unit, Ɓukasz Pawlik.

Urban and ecological activists have repeatedly accused the previous management of lack of care for nature. In one of the petitions, they wrote about the previous director that “he never supported residents in defending trees when they were massively and unjustly cut down for city investments.”
