Doctor Tomasz Solecki, whom the patient murdered, rested on Wednesday at the Batowicki cemetery in Krakow. President Andrzej Duda posthumously awarded him the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
Orthopedic doctor Tomasz Solecki, who was murdered last week at the Patient's University Hospital in Krakow, rested on Wednesday at the Batowicki cemetery in this city. At the request of the voivode Krzysztof Jan Klęczar, the funeral ceremony was of a state nature, with the participation of military assistance. The family expressed his will to run without the media.
Before the funeral mass, the deputy head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Piotr Ćwik, assisted by the voivode, handed over to the wife of the deceased, the bachelor cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, which was given posthumously. The award was awarded for outstanding merits in health care activities.
The doctor was also posthumously honored with the “For Merit to Health Protection” badge awarded by the Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyn. In turn, the President of Krakow Aleksander Miszalski posthumously gave Tomasz Solecki the Honoris Gratia badge for special services to the city.

47-year-old doctor Tomasz Solecki, an orthopedist of the Krakow University Hospital, died on April 29. A 35-year-old man burst into the office where he examined the patient and attacked a medic with a knife. The doctor, despite the efforts of the medical staff, died. The prison officer turned out to be the attacker. The prosecutor's office charged him with the murder of a doctor and attempted violation of the nurses' body's activities. The court arrested him for three months.

Dr. Tomasz Solecki was a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system. In 2003 he graduated from the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. From 2004 to 2011 he was an assistant and lecturer at the Jagiellonian University (Faculty of Health Sciences, Institute of Physiotherapy, Orthopedics Clinic and Traumatology of the Movement Organ).
Already at the beginning of his professional road he became involved with the University Hospital in Krakow. He specialized in the reconstruction surgery of the hand and foot. He also dealt with ultrasound diagnostics. He was also interested in sports medicine. He improved his skills during additional courses. He was also a member of the Polish Orthopedic Society (PTO) and the Polish Hand Surgery Society (PTCHR).
