Due to low temperatures, the city guard pays special attention to people deprived of safe shelter and appeals to residents not to be indifferent. The city police of Krakow informed about finding a dead man near one of the vacant buildings, a former heating plant. The man was homeless.

According to the description posted on Friday by the city police of Krakow in social media, on Thursday the patrol noticed three homeless people lying next to the building on Wielicka Street in Krakow.

Two men were woken up, the third was lying on a mattress covered with a duvet – as stated by city guards – he was not breathing. The man was resuscitated until paramedics arrived. “Unfortunately, the doctor pronounced him dead,” said the spokesman for the municipal police, Marek Anioł.

Firefighters remind that the autumn and winter period is extremely difficult for the homeless. These people are looking for a roof over their heads in vacant buildings, in staircases, basements, in allotment gardens.

They also try to warm themselves in heating ducts. On November 19, in such a place on Lipska Street in Krakow, a walker noticed a dead middle-aged homeless man.

“Each year, with the arrival of frost, city guard patrols pay special attention to people at risk of hypothermia. An important role in helping the homeless is also played by residents who, by calling 986, indicate their whereabouts. It is thanks to residents and their empathy that we have a better chance for a quick reaction” – previously informed the City Guard of the City of Krakow.
