Asp. Tomasz Kapcia from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Krakow was driving an unmarked police car along ul. Ljubljana on Wednesday. At one point, he was blocked by a Mercedes driver leaving the bus lane, almost causing a collision. The Mercedes then returned to the bus lane.

“The policeman decided to check and warn the driver of the Mercedes. When the policeman approached him, he tried to drive away, tried to avoid a taxi standing in front of him and collided with a public transport bus driving in the adjacent lane, and then hit the back of the car standing in front of him,” we read in the release. He was wanted on an arrest warrant

After a series of collisions, the Mercedes driver got out and fled on foot. “At a pedestrian crossing, a passer-by blocked his path and the escapee stumbled and fell onto the asphalt. After a short struggle, the officer running after him overpowered him, put handcuffs on his hands and called a patrol through the officer on duty,” the police say. It turned out that the passer-by who prevented the 24-year-old from escaping was a retired policeman.

When the patrol arrived, it turned out that the 24-year-old was wanted on an arrest warrant to serve an 11-month prison sentence. Moreover, he did not have a driving license. The man has already been sent to prison. He will also face the consequences of driving without a license and causing a collision.
