This is how the attempt to defraud a 65-year-old vigilant resident of Krakow turned out. He not only resisted being robbed, but also helped the police in arresting the fraudster.
On January 9, a person pretending to be an employee called the landline phone of an elderly resident of Bronowice, Krakow ZUS. The interlocutor told the 65-year-old that he would deliver an important letter from the office.
Shortly thereafter, the man's phone rang again. This time, the Krakow resident's interlocutor introduced himself as a policeman. He informed that the earlier call allegedly came from people associated with a criminal group committing theft and assault.

He was supposed to throw away the package
“The fake officer instructed the man to pack all his savings into a plastic bag and throw them out the window, at the same time assuring that the appropriate person would take over the package and secure the money for the duration of the police activities. The 65-year-old did not let himself be fooled. After the conversation, he called the police to tell them about the whole situation. The officers confirmed the senior's suspicions that he was dealing with fraudsters.

“The 65-year-old, following police instructions, threw a makeshift package out of the window of his apartment, which was taken a moment later by a man waiting outside the senior citizen's block for it to be taken over. Therefore, the criminals immediately ran up and detained the 50-year-old, who was surprised by such the turn of the case,” emphasized Comm. Szpiech.

The next day, the 50-year-old was charged with attempted fraud, which is punishable by six months to eight years in prison. At the request of the prosecutor's office, the court decided to temporarily arrest the man for three months.
