Police officers from the Krakow poviat detained two suspects in a series of thefts in towns near Krakow. One of the last actions of the 33-year-old and the 43-year-old was to be a robbery of nearly PLN 100,000 in one of the farm buildings.
They lost their tools during the escape and took 100,000 zlotys
The theft of almost 100,000 zlotys took place on April 1. On that day, they wanted to steal power tools from the farm building. When it turned out that there were banknotes in one of the boxes, they abandoned their previous booty and fled with the money.
Police officers from Zabierzów determined that a 33-year-old from the Liszki commune and a 43-year-old from the Czernichów commune were to be responsible for the burglary. In late May, officers knocked on their door.
– During the search of the 43-year-old’s house, the criminals found over 20 pieces of various types of power tools, as well as two cartridges, two cameras, a tripod, a DVD player, a laptop, car wash tokens and five paintings of unknown origin and a Bible from 1922 – says the younger inspector Sebastian Gleń, spokesman for the Małopolska Police.
Among the found power tools, the officers mention petrol saws and chainsaws, grinders and jigsaws. All items have been secured. 100,000 zlotys have not yet been recovered.
– Now investigators will try to identify possible victims in this case, who may have fallen victim to thieves. People who recognize their property, please report to the Investigation Department of the District Police Headquarters in Krakow – appeals Gleń.
Thefts in touchless car washes
According to the findings of the police, the 33-year-old detainee was probably also supposed to break into car washes in the Liszki commune and the Chrzanów poviat. The losses in these places were estimated at around five thousand zlotys.
Both men have heard the charges and face up to 10 years in prison. The 43-year-old has already been brought to a prison, where he will serve a previously sentenced sentence of one year and eight months in prison for drug offenses.
