At the UN forum, the President of Ukraine addressed strong words to partners in the European Union who extended the embargo on grain from Ukraine. – What is alarming is what we see, that some in Europe, some of our friends in Europe, are acting out solidarity in political theater, making a thriller with grain. It may seem that they are playing their own role, but in fact they are helping to set the stage for the Moscow actor, emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Ukrainian ambassador in Warsaw for an interview and presented him with a protest against the president’s words. – We treat these words as unfair in the context of the actions that Poland is taking and has been taking in recent years – emphasizes Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Office, Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.

The presidents of Poland and Ukraine were also supposed to meet on Tuesday. It was officially canceled due to the delayed speech of President Andrzej Duda. There is no new date for now. The Polish president used such a comparison even before President Zelensky’s speech – in the context of the Kiev-Warsaw dispute. – There is a saying that “a drowning man grasps at straws”. And, indeed, a drowning person clings to whatever he can get his hands on. It’s a bit like the situation between Poland and Ukraine today. Ukraine is under Russian attack. He is undoubtedly in a very difficult situation. He grabs everything he can, said Andrzej Duda.

The head of government, the minister of agriculture and the EU commissioner for agriculture are responsible for the fact that the grain crisis has not been resolved for over a year. According to the opposition, the government’s only idea is to close the border to problems and grain from Ukraine.

– We did what we did, we introduced an embargo on Ukrainian grain without the consent of the European Commission and we will maintain it until we develop appropriate mechanisms – said Mateusz Morawiecki. The Prime Minister did not mention that the government did not use the period of the EU embargo to develop such mechanisms. – They called me Russians back then (…). For half a year they pretended there was no problem – commented Donald Tusk.

In recent months, Jarosław Kaczyński has also spoken out on the grain issue. – Whenever Poland’s vital interest is at stake, Tusk is against it. Very often, his point of view is consistent with Russian propaganda – said the PiS president in a statement for “Gazeta Polska” in June 2022. Then Jarosław Kaczyński also tried to calm down the farmers. – However, it is important that our farmers know that this grain does not pose any threat to them – Kaczyński emphasized. A year later he changed his mind.

– I would never allow cheap Ukrainian grain to flood Poland and I would never allow Poland to turn away from Ukraine. When there is a key Ukrainian counteroffensive on the front with Russia, Tusk emphasizes today. In response to the Polish government’s decision to extend the embargo on grain from Ukraine, the Ukrainian side is considering introducing an embargo on Polish onions, tomatoes, cabbage and apples. – I am warning the Ukrainian authorities because if they escalate this conflict in this way, we will add more products – warns the Polish Prime Minister.

Apart from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary also extended the embargo on Ukrainian grain.
