We are deeply concerned about the inhumane actions of the Lukashenka regime, said Ned Price, spokesman for the US State Department. He called on the Belarusian regime to “immediately stop instrumental use of the influx of migrants to Europe”.

Price was asked by Marcin Wrona, a correspondent of “Fakt” TVN, about the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border.

– We are deeply concerned about the inhumane actions of the Lukashenka regime. We are in close contact with European leaders, preparing sanctions for the entire regime for these hybrid operations, but also for attacks on human rights, international laws, violations of democracy against Belarus, he replied.

Since the spring, the number of attempts to illegally cross the Belarusian border with Lithuania, Latvia and Poland by migrants from the Middle East, Africa and other regions has increased sharply. The European Union and the Member States believe that this is the result of the deliberate actions of Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s regime, which instrumentally uses migrants in response to EU sanctions.

Journalists have no access to the area under the state of emergency. When reporting on the events at the border, the media can use almost exclusively official government recordings and information.
