Two Italian tourists who ordered a taxi to the airport in Split, Croatia, on Sunday were charged 550 euros. The ride lasted half an hour and the taxi driver covered 25 kilometers. When the young women saw the bill, they burst into tears, Croatian television reported. Media reports that the women could also have gotten to the airport using public transport. They decided against this option because they were afraid they would miss their flight. The daily “Jutarnji” reports that “steps have been taken to rectify the situation and provide justice to the passengers.” However, it does not specify who took the steps or what they will involve.
