Croatian police found the bodies of three children in one of the apartments in Zagreb: seven-year-old twins and a four-year-old. According to HRT, their father is suspected of their murder, who later tried to take his own life. The prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into this matter.
The disclosure of the murder took place on Friday night. Around 2 a.m., Croatian police officers entered an apartment in Zagreb, where three deceased children were found. According to the local television report, it is a boy and girl aged seven and a boy of four. There was also the father of the children – a 56-year-old Austrian citizen permanently residing in Croatia. The man was unconscious and was taken to hospital. HRT television reports that his life is not in danger.
The Croatian prosecutor’s office announced the opening of an investigation into this matter. The suspect of killing three children is their father.
Media: Father complained of mental and financial problems
The Austrian daily “Kurier” reports that one of the Austrian’s friends read a post published by him on social media, indicating the suicidal intentions of the man and alerted the police. The father of the killed children complained of financial and mental problems.
The children’s parents were divorced, their mother lives permanently in Dubrovnik, and the children were to spend this weekend with their father, wrote the Croatian media. – There were no reports of domestic violence in this family – said Deputy Minister of Labor, Family and Social Welfare of Croatia Margareta Madżerić.
According to HRT, doctors from the hospital to which the man was transported suspect that he was under the influence of psychoactive substances, but this has not yet been confirmed.
