A cruise ship carrying tons of of passengers is caught within the port of Barcelona after a bunch of Bolivian passengers had been discovered to have visa points, based on officers.

Authorities mentioned 69 Bolivians will not be being allowed to depart the liner as they don’t have legitimate paperwork to enter the EU’s border-free Schengen space.

There are some 1,500 passengers on board the posh MSC Armonia, which had set sail from Brazil and was to proceed via the Mediterranean Sea to Croatia.

Spanish authorities officers in Barcelona mentioned they had been in touch with Bolivian authorities and MSC Cruises to resolve the state of affairs.

The Bolivians on board included households and kids, MSC Cruises mentioned in an announcement.

Catalan newspaper Ara reported a Bolivian girl felt she was handled like “a felony [in a] jail” regardless of claiming she paid for a visa from an company which instructed her it was legitimate.

The newspaper additionally reported passengers claiming that they had been allowed to depart the cruise in Tenerife with out obstacle, earlier than being blocked in Malaga and ultimately stopped in Barcelona.

The Schengen space is an ID check-free journey zone comprising 29 European nations, most from the European Union.
