Friday evening is marked by storms. In the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship, firefighters went out dozens of times to remove the effects of violent weather. In Świnoujście, a strong wind knocked down a yacht. Warnings issued by IMGW forecasters, even the highest, third degree, are in force. Experts from the Government Security Center (RCB) and local governments also warn against difficult and dynamic weather.

Storms in Poland are already taking their toll. On Friday evening, the first effects of the violent weather are visible.

Throughout the province West Pomeranian from 8 a.m. to 19.20, 42 atmospheric events were recorded, mainly in coastal districts, Tomasz Kubiak, spokesman for the provincial commander of the State Fire Service in Szczecin. There are no injured people.

– Firefighters remove fallen trees, broken branches and branches on the roads. At the gas station in Stare Brynki, at S3, in Gryfino district, the wind tore off a fragment of a tin roof, and in Bezrzecze (Police district) a tree fell on a parked car. There were no injuries, the spokesman said. Most interventions – seven – were recorded in Kamień Pomorski.

According to the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, a fallen tree blocked the roadway in Brzeźno on the national road No. 11 between Bobolice and Szczecinek.

Warnings of the most important services

For many days, forecasters and meteorologists of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management have been informing that weather conditions around the weekend can be very difficult and dangerous. All because of Cyclone Ulf. Already on Friday, weather alerts were issued across the country, mostly of the second degree. There are places where the third – the highest – level of alert applies.

The RCB Alert was also launched on Friday. Everyone staying in Poland received a text message warning against dangerously strong gusts of wind. “Avoid open spaces” – experts of the Government Security Center appealed.

According to forecasts, the most dangerous gusts may appear in the northern provinces. For this reason, experts also warn of a storm. As the authorities of the Pomeranian Voivodeship remind, such strong gusts pose a threat to people and infrastructure. The forecasted waves in the Baltic Sea may reach up to 11 meters in height.

In turn, in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship, local government officials appealed to residents to be especially careful.
