Six years after the crime, police and prosecutors identified the perpetrator of the brutal murder of a 55-year-old man, which took place in Czeladź (Silesia). The detained man pleaded guilty.
Information about the detention of the 31-year-old was provided by Waldemar Łubniewski, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Sosnowiec. According to him, Przemysław K. initially denied that he had anything to do with this case, but eventually confessed to the crime. In the prosecutor’s office, he explained that he killed him because he wanted to release his anger. He has been arrested.
The proceedings were discontinued and resumed
The body of 55-year-old Jacek S. – a man in crisis of homelessness who lived in a tent next to the cemetery at ul. Saturnowska in Czeladź – found on November 5, 2017 by his friend who decided to visit him. The autopsy revealed several dozen cut and stab wounds on the victim’s neck, head and hands. According to experts, they were the result of beatings with a sharp instrument, probably a knife.
An investigation into this case was initiated by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Będzin, which, however, discontinued the proceedings over a year later due to the failure to detect the perpetrator. The case was later taken up by the prosecutor and policemen from Sosnowiec – under Art. 327 par. 3 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. According to this provision, before issuing a decision to resume or resume a discontinued investigation, the prosecutor may personally undertake or commission the police to carry out the necessary evidentiary activities “in order to check the circumstances justifying the issuance of the decision.”
He showed where he hid the knife
As a result of these activities – explained Prosecutor Łubniewski – new, significant evidence was obtained about this crime and its potential perpetrator; those conducting the proceedings identified witnesses whose testimonies shed new light on this case. At the request of the prosecutor’s office, the police detained 31-year-old Przemysław K. suspected of murder a few days ago. In the prosecutor’s office, he was charged with murder with particular cruelty.
– Przemysław K., when interrogated as a suspect, initially did not admit to committing the act he was accused of, but when confronted with witnesses, he finally explained that he had killed the injured party to release his anger – described prosecutor Łubniewski. As he added, during the local visit, K. showed the police the place where he hid the knife with which he inflicted fatal wounds on the victim.
By court decision, the suspect was arrested for three months. He faces up to life in prison.
