About 100 kilograms of dead fish were taken from the Czernica Reservoir in the Wrocław poviat. It is not yet known what could have caused the fish plague, according to the press service of the Lower Silesian Voivode. They added that the samples taken show that the values ​​of dissolved oxygen, water saturation with oxygen and water pH are increased. “The situation is monitored on an ongoing basis in various places of the Oder River” – the officials emphasized.

According to the announcement of the Lower Silesian Voivodship Office, the notification about the fish killed in the Czernica Reservoir was received by the Provincial Inspectorate for Environmental Protection on Thursday. “According to the information obtained, about 100 kg of dead fish were selected from the reservoir. The Czernica Reservoir and the canal connecting the reservoir with the Oder River were inspected, along with water sampling. The entire coastline was inspected” – reported the press office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office.

The inspectors measured basic water parameters at various points. Samples were taken for further analysis in the following ranges: phytoplankton + Primnesium parvumCOD, BOD5, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Suspension, Primnesine, Color, Odor, Sodium, Chlorides, Sulphates.

The message emphasized that the color of the water was characteristic of this reservoir; no local changes in water color, chemical odor or other traces of water contamination were noted.

“The analysis of the basic parameters of water taken from the Czernica Reservoir shows that the values ​​of dissolved oxygen, water saturation with oxygen and water pH are increased. No increased conductivity was recorded. In the main stream of the Odra River, the physicochemical parameters are close to the average” – it is stated. And added: “The situation is monitored on an ongoing basis in various places of the Oder River.”
