In the Window of Life for them. bl. Edmund Bojanowski in Częstochowa (Silesia), a two-year-old girl was found. Her mother stated that she regretted her act and wanted the child back. The family court will decide on this.
The alarm in the window of life went off on Monday after 9:00 p.m. A letter was left with the baby about two years old, stating the name. The police were notified and the child was given medical care. Director of the Caritas Archdiocese of Częstochowa, Fr. Marek Bator informed that the girl was healthy and was well looked after by her sisters.
On Monday evening, policemen from the Częstochowa city headquarters were working on the spot. The prosecutor’s office was also notified about the case. – In such a situation, our task is to establish the identity of the child and check whether there has been a crime to his detriment. At the age of almost two, the girl was taken to a children’s hospital for examination. We notified the prosecutor’s office and handed over the materials to the family court – said Sabina Chyra-Giereś, spokeswoman for the Częstochowa police.
The mother wants her baby back
The spokesman of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Częstochowa, Tomasz Ozimek, based on the analysis of the materials collected in the case, said that the child who had been left in the window of life was well cared for, had no signs of violence or other injuries. This was confirmed by the doctors who examined the girl.
– The child’s mother contacted the police and stated that she had left her daughter in the window of life at the time of a nervous breakdown. She said she regretted what she had done and wanted the child back, said prosecutor Ozimek.
After analyzing the materials of the vetting proceedings, the prosecutor issued a decision refusing to initiate an investigation in this case. – As he justified, leaving a child in the window of life does not, as a rule, constitute the crime of abandoning a child or other prohibited act, because leaving a child in the window of life guarantees care and does not expose him to any danger – pointed out the spokesman.
The family court will now decide about the girl’s future. – The court will probably issue a decision whether an interim order will be issued to place the child in a care facility and if such an order is issued, proceedings will be initiated for the issuance of guardianship orders – then the court will decide what will happen next with this child. For now, it is in the hospital – said the spokesman of the District Court in Częstochowa, Dominik Bogacz.
