An explosion occurred on Tuesday in a two-story building in Dąbrowa Górnicza (Silesian Voivodeship). A gas cylinder exploded in a store on the ground floor. The ambulance took one person to hospital. Firefighters found no other injuries and extinguished the fire.
Just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the State Fire Service in Dąbrowa Górnicza was called to an explosion in a building in the Strzemieszyce district at AK Ordona Branch Street.
– It’s a two-story building. A gas cylinder exploded in a shop on the ground floor. The injured person was a person in the store. When firefighters arrived at the scene, she was already being treated by an ambulance – Rafał Dulewski, spokesman for the Dąbrowa State Fire Service, told us.
Initially, the rescue services also provided information about an injured passer-by, but only the person from the store was taken to the hospital.
Fire after explosion
The explosion caused a fire that was extinguished by nine fire brigades for two hours. Firefighters searched the scene and found no other injuries.
The losses will be estimated by the building supervision inspector, who will also decide whether the building is suitable for use. The police will investigate the causes of the incident.
