A 55-year-old man who, under the influence of alcohol, attacked a taxi driver, and then insulted and attacked intervening police officers, faces up to five years in prison. The incident took place in Kurnos near Bełchatów (Łódź Voivodeship).
In the village of Kurnos near Bełchatów, a few days ago around noon, the police received a report about a troublemaker who attacked a taxi driver. The reporting driver reported that he had previously brought an aggressive man to the store.
On the spot, the 55-year-old became angry for no apparent reason, which he took out on the door of the vehicle, causing a dent in the bodywork. He also broke the taxi driver’s glasses and tore his shirt. When the victim called the police, the aggressor fled.

– Before the arrival of the patrol, the vandal reappeared in front of the shop and continued to use profanity at the victim, who was also threatened with beatings – Chief Commissioner Iwona Kaszewska of the Bełchatów Police said in a message on Sunday.
The uniforms identified the man, but he continued to behave aggressively during the intervention. He called out the applicant, and when the policemen tried to call him to order, he tried to take his anger out on them. – By using profanity, he insulted and violated the bodily integrity of the intervening officers, which exposed him to additional responsibility – reported Kaszewska.

Two per mille in the body
The man was quickly taken into police custody. It turned out that he was drunk, he had more than two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. The value of the losses caused by him was estimated at nearly PLN 1,000.
On the basis of the evidence collected by the investigators, a resident of the Bełchatów poviat, after sobering up, was charged with damage to property, criminal threats, violation of bodily integrity and insulting a police officer. The man now faces a sentence of up to five years in prison.
