Thunderstorms will occur until late Saturday evening over a large area of ​​Poland. Warnings from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management apply. Wind gusts are expected to reach 70 kilometers per hour and there may be hail.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued level 1 warnings.

IMWM warnings – storms

First degree warnings ahead storms are valid in the following voivodeships:

  • Podkarpackie;
  • Lesser Poland;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Lublin Provincein southern and western counties;
  • Masovian Voivodeshipoutside the northern and eastern parts of the region;
  • Łódź;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeshipoutside the north-eastern counties;
  • Greater Poland;
  • Lower Silesiain the eastern part of the voivodeship;
  • Opole province;
  • Silesian.

In some places, storms with rainfall of up to 25 liters of water per square meter and wind gusts of up to about 70 kilometers per hour are forecast. Small hail is possible locally.

The warnings will be valid until 10 p.m. on Saturday.

What is the IMWM first degree meteorological warning?

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation.
