PiS MP Dariusz Stefaniuk posted an entry with the alleged statement of the Swedish politician. This was to say that Poland and Hungary should be excluded from the European Union because they do not match it. The politician manipulates.
Manipulative entry Dariusz Stefaniuk, MP of Law and Justice on Facebook on Facebook on June 5, 2025. Its main part was the screenshot, in which we see a photo of a black woman, and below it the inscription: “The leader of the Swedish liberals believes that Poland and Hungary do not match Europe and should be excluded with the EU.”
MP's entry Facebook
“A real native Swedish and European” – Ironized PiS politician, commenting on the published screenshot. Over two thousand Internet users responded to his entry. The post also caused a lot of anti -immigrant comments. “She is a Swedish like an Egyptian or Arabian”; “And she fits Europe, let her speak about her roots or fit Europe”; “Africa is waiting”; “Poland is a beautiful patriotic country and they are such Europeans like you do not fit him”; “Let them exclude herself” – wrote other users (the spelling of all entries original).
The screenshot that the MP posted and commented on comes from article from the right -wing portal Magna Polonia. The woman in question and which is visible in the photo is Nyamko Sabuni. He is a Swedish politician who once actually criticized Poland. What the MP did not inform about was the fact that it concerned the situation from a few years ago, and not recent events. In addition, Sabuni has not been the leader of the party for a long time, and in Sweden he has been living since childhood. We explain.
He has been living in Sweden for a long time, she is no longer the leader of the party
The suggestion that the Sabunia visible in the photo now call for the exclusion of Poland and Hungary from the EU is to build the conviction that the Scandinavian country is ruled by migrants. But neither Stefaniuk nor the author of the article he disseminated by him anymore Sabunia – Born in Burundi, but with roots in the Democratic Republic of Congo (former ZAIR)- he has lived in Sweden since the age of 12. There she also went to school and studied.
In 2002 she became a MP Riksdag, a Swedish parliament. In 2006, she served as a minister for gender equality and integration, and in 2007 she headed the Ministry of Integration and Gender Equality. It comes from the Liberal Party and in 2019 she was the president. However, calling her “the leader of the Swedish liberals” is no longer available. Because she performed this function until 2022, when at the beginning of April informedthat he gives up the role of the party's head.
She criticized Poland, but for what and when?
The Swedish politician criticized Poland, but it was a few years ago when the so -called “LGBT free zones”. It is a situation that began in 2020, when the authorities of many Polish municipalities, poviats and voivodships adopted resolutions expressing reluctance to members of the LGBT community or calling to protect the traditional family model, which we explained in Concrete24 in February 2020.
Sabuni first criticized the situation in Poland on her Instagram, and then repeated this position in the Swedish media. “In the event that in individual countries there are tendencies contrary to human rights, the EU must be able to take decisive and targeted actions,” she wrote in a post of August 2, 2021. Then she exchanged Hungary and stated that the Fidesz party ruling there “reduced the space for independent media, academic communities, civil society, immigrants and LGBTQ people.” She wrote that she was about Hungarian law, which “prohibits the media and schools of informing young people about homosexuality and sex change.”
Then the leader of the Swedish party wrote in her post about Poland, criticizing the activities of the then authorities: “In Poland a similar law was discussed several times, and recently a ban on adoption for homosexual couples. Although the absurd so -called 'LGBTQ -free zones' were annulled in court, repetitive attacks of the Law and Justice party on LGBTQ.” Later in the entry, she concluded her proposals regarding EU Member States. She stated that “EU membership should require unconditional defense of human rights”, but here she did not mention anything about excluding Poland or Hungary from the Union. She wrote, however, that “liberals want the EU to create a quick path of Hungarian control and freeze payments until Viktor Orban withdraws all laws that are contrary to democratic values.” Another proposal of Sabunia was that Sweden during its presidency “took the initiative to organize an extraordinary peak dedicated to the laws, democracy and the rule of law in the Union”, and also stated that “during the presidency Sweden should focus the Union's attention on initiatives aimed at taking pressure on China and Russia to observe international laws and human rights.”
The text from Magna Polonia, whose headline has recently been made available by a PiS MP, also dates from 2021. Discusses the article written by Sabunia for the Swedish diary “Expressen“It was published on the portal of this newspaper on August 4, 2021.” When the Commission [Europejska] She examined how its members referred to the rule of law, two countries come to the fore: Poland and Hungary. In recent years, the independence of the judiciary and the freedom of the press have been actively undermined by two authoritarian governments, “Sabunia wrote. The politician wrote that Swedish liberals would like to convene the European summit in order to discuss situations in countries breaking the rule of law, she recognized Poland and Hungary.” One of the most important topics of the EU summit will be more rigorous rules on how countries can voluntarily leave the Union, and if necessary, be forced to occur [z UE]” – she wrote. In the article, much more criticism fell on Hungary, but Sabunia also wrote about Poland in a negative context. However, she pointed to the specific reasons for her criticism and that in her opinion EU law was violated in Poland. In the text there was also no call to leave the EU by Hungary and Poland – Sabuni was rather called to take over these countries. Actions that the policy considered unreasonable was to be rather a last resort.
The whole situation is not and had no connection with migration, which may suggest an entry of a PiS MP.
“I don't want Poland to be excluded”
This is not the first time the photo of Sabunia and information about “excluding” Poland from the EU circulates on the network. It was similar in June 2024. Then the case was looked at by the Fact-Checking Portal Demagogue. His editors then reached other statements of the Swedish politicians in whom she said that he did not want to exclude Poland and Hungary from the European community. An example of such words are those that were in an interview of August 2 for the portal Europortalenek. Sabuni then said: “I do not want Hungary or Poland to be excluded. However, I would like us to have tools that would withdraw from their repressive policy and respect the rule of law and basic democratic values.”
So what is the manipulation of MP Stefaniuk? Lack of context and information that Sabunia's postulates concern 2021, and she has not been a party leader for several years. In his post we only see a dark -skinned woman and information that she wants to exclude Poland and Hungary for “they do not match the EU” – this is an example of creating an anti -immigrant message.
An expert with “using existing stereotypes”
In an interview with Zasta24, Dr. Marta Pietrusińska, sociologist and pedagar, assistant professor at the University of Warsaw, a doctor of social sciences specializing in issues in the field of migration, comments on the entry of MP Stefaniuk.
– Politicians do not always realize, reproducing various things that they should check them earlier. However, it doesn't matter if it is simply ignorance or premeditation – they are responsible for their entries as public figures – he says.
He then explains how MP Stefaniuk used the anti -immigrant attitude of part of society. – This entry is primarily the use of existing narrative and stereotypes that are present in our society. Because if there were no such anti -immigrant and racist attitudes among Poles, I think that such a post would be unnoticed. If a white older man was in the photo he posted, it would not cause such emotions. So the MP hit the narrative, which already exists and used it, he didn't really have to write anything more. He used racist, xenophobic associations, using – in fact – the image itself – explains the expert.
– In addition to those of associations and prejudices existing in society, the lack of a given context worked. This is an example of what politicians, unfortunately, often do – providing various messages without context, but also posting various images, without thinking about what reaction they can cause. This is irresponsible, especially if you have large ranges – notes PetrusiÅ„ska. He points out: – Unfortunately, it is not surprising to use this kind of photos and skipping the context to political struggle. Because anti -immigrant narrative is now very often undertaken by both sides of the political scene.
