President Andrzej Duda wished German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the German Unity Day. “I trust that Polish-German partnership relations will constitute one of the pillars of the foreign policy of the future federal government,” wrote Duda in a message to Steinmeier.
On October 3, German Unity Day is celebrated – a German public holiday on the anniversary of German reunification in 1990.
On this occasion, President Andrzej Duda sent a congratulatory message to President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Its content was published on the website of the Chancellery of the President. “On the occasion of the National Day of the Federal Republic of Germany, on behalf of the Polish Nation and myself, I would like to convey to you and all citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany my best wishes for all the best,” wrote President Duda.

Andrzej Duda recalled that on June 17 he hosted Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Warsaw on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Polish-German Treaty on Good Neighborhood and Friendly Cooperation. “Thank you in particular for the words of support for the idea of commemorating in Berlin the memory of the Polish victims of the Third Reich. I know that in this matter Poland has a very valuable ally in the person of the President. I also trust that Polish-German partnership relations, based on truth and mutual respect. will constitute one of the pillars of the foreign policy of the future federal government, “he emphasized.
Duda also pointed out that this year’s anniversary of German reunification coincides with many challenges for both our societies. He indicated that we are still facing the multidimensional effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are also aware of the pain and losses caused by the catastrophic flood in western Germany. In the face of the crisis on the eastern border of the European Union, strengthening the protection of its external borders is our common priority,” he added.
“On the Day of German Unity, I wish you all happiness in your private life for our Western Neighbors, satisfaction with the selection of your Representatives in public life and further successes of the united Motherland” – wrote President Duda.
