– The moment I saw him, I had no doubts. I decided that it was him (…). The moment when the body was finally turned over was full of tension for everyone who was there. And it was no longer so obvious – this is how Edyta Kubska, a prosecutor from Częstochowa, talks about finding the body of Jacek Jaworek in an interview with Jerzy Korczyński from TVN24.
On July 25, the prosecutor's office confirmed that the man found on July 19 in Dąbrowa Zielona (Silesian Province) was Jacek JaworekHe had been wanted for three years for killing his brother, sister-in-law and nephew. He died from a gunshot wound, his body was found five kilometres from the house in Borowce where the crime took place.
Edyta Kubska from the District Prosecutor's Office in Częstochowa, in an interview with Jerzy Korczyński from TVN24, told what the work of investigators at the place where the body was found looked like.
– The moment I saw him, when I arrived, I had no doubts. I decided it was him. But the key thing was the way the body was turned. The silhouette, the shape of the skull. It seemed like it could be him – she admitted. – The police technicians took quite a long time to work. This is a case that had to be carried out perfectly in terms of collecting every possible piece of evidence. The search for bullets also took a longer time, so the metal detector was working – says Kubska.
– The moment when the body finally turned over was probably full of tension for everyone who was there. And it wasn't so obvious anymore – she admitted. Asked if she had any doubts that it was Jaworek, she replied: “After the turn, yes, after the turn, I had.”
– The fact that someone thinks so, and even if it is a prosecutor, is not enough to confirm: yes, the man found is Jacek Jaworek – she added.
Was it suicide?
Asked whether Jacek Jaworek had definitely committed suicide, Kubska said that “the initial autopsy results and the preliminary opinion of experts from the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Medical University of Wrocław confirm that this is a typical suicide shot, without the participation of third parties.”
– There are no other injuries on Jacek Jaworek's body that could indicate that he was, for example, forced to shoot like that, or that any other actions were taken against him to persuade him to do so. Nothing so far indicates that anyone else was present at the scene. The shot was fired with a very strong force – she emphasized.
Jaworek's escape from the crime scene. “He ran away as he stood”
Edyta Kubska pointed out that investigators did not have access to Jaworek's phone or the weapon used to commit the crime. – I cannot say unequivocally that he ran away with it. He certainly did not take any documents with him. Quite a large amount of cash was found in the house in Borowce, in the room that he used, so it was presumably his cash. Such valuable items were also left at the scene and were secured for the purposes of the investigation. Everything indicated that he ran away as he stood – she noted.
When asked where Jacek Jaworek had been for the past three years, she said that she thought he had been somewhere further than his hometown. “But I don't rule out that he spent the last few days, or maybe weeks, in this area,” she assessed. “He decided to end his life and went back to square one,” she added.
The TVN24 interviewee admitted that Jaworek was an aggressive person. – It is important that he left prison on June 12, because he had been serving a three-month sentence for the crime of failure to pay alimony. This aggression has intensified in the last period, since he left prison – she recalled. – There were misunderstandings related to the issue of maintaining this house, the issue of mutual benefits, division of property. The Jawork family was preparing to take this matter to court. The background (of the crime – ed.) is certainly property issues – she emphasized.
– I feel some relief that this mystery has been solved, in the sense that there is no more searching, no more constant tension – added Kubska.
