A 19-year-old BMW driver hit a 14-year-old girl at a pedestrian crossing. The incident took place in Dębica (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). The injured victim was taken to hospital. The driver of the vehicle was sober. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The incident took place on Tuesday after 2 p.m. on Firefighter Street in Dębica. The services received information about a pedestrian being hit on a marked pedestrian crossing.
She was not careful and hit the teenager
– The preliminary findings of the policemen who intervened at the scene so far show that a 19-year-old woman driving a BMW, driving along Strazacka Street, did not exercise due caution and hit a teenager crossing the crossing. The injured victim was transported to the hospital in Dębica, said the press officer of the Dębica police, Deputy Commissioner Jacek Bator. He added that the police identified witnesses of the incident, conducted an examination and secured evidence. – A breathalyzer test showed that the driver was sober – he said.

The police reminds that the “pedestrian crossing” sign obliges the driver to slow down and exercise particular caution. “We also appeal to pedestrians to be careful and considerate, not to step directly in front of an oncoming vehicle. Even at a pedestrian crossing, make sure that the driver has time to brake. Of course, the pedestrian has priority, but let us always follow the principle of limited trust in other road users. “- noted the police.
