In Aarhus, Denmark, a 14-year-old girl died in a cable car accident at the local amusement park, Tivoli Friheden, and a 13-year-old boy was injured, East Jutland police said.
As reported by the Danish newspaper “BT”, at one point some of the rear seats of the vehicle detached. Several stuck people were released by the emergency services.
A police investigation is underway, the causes of the accident are unknown yet. The Cobra roller coaster accelerates up to 70 km per hour at an altitude of 25 meters and is considered one of the greatest attractions of the amusement park.
A similar accident of the same queue occurred in 2008, when four people were injured.
Aarhus funfair has closed. The police called on guests not to publish photos and videos of the accident on social media.
