“Helping Ukraine remains the top priority. Putin must lose this war.”

Russia’s attack on Ukraine destabilizes the international environment. Unfortunately, the war does not end. Sanctions against Russia are starting to act, however, we are noticing the growing militarization of the Russian economy, as well as the reorientation of its trade towards China and Moscow’s attempts to circumvent our sanctions. Another necessary task is therefore to introduce restrictive measures against the Russian arms industry, including companies from third countries, which make it easier to evade sanctions, the minister emphasized.

– We agreed with the minister that help is needed Ukraine remains a top priority. Putin must lose this war, and we should provide long-term and comprehensive support to the Ukrainian armed forces, Sikorski emphasized. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed appreciation for Denmark’s decision to support Ukraine in the form of providing F-16 fighters and financial assistance.

– Today’s talks proved the close ties between our countries, closer and stronger than ever. Poland is a valuable partner for Denmark in many areas – EU issues, NATO. We are close allies as well as neighbors. We have a common border on the Baltic Sea and, therefore, many common interests, he pointed out.

As he emphasized, Poland plays a key role in supporting Ukraine. He also recalled Denmark’s contribution to this support amounting to EUR 4.7 billion.

– We need to do even more, we need to support Ukraine even more. Today we confirmed our commitments to maintaining and developing our cooperation in the context of Ukraine. “We also need to strengthen and accelerate the deployment of renewable energy.”

Rasmussen also drew attention to the close bilateral cooperation between Poland and Denmark in the field of defense and security, including energy security, as well as in the area of green energy. He also recalled that gas is transported via the Baltic Pipe Norway gas to Poland via Denmark. – The Baltic Pipe is a milestone in strengthening the EU’s energy security and ending dependence on Russian energy, he said.

– We also need to strengthen and accelerate the deployment of renewable energy to make Europe more independent and to decarbonize our energy sector. Wind energy plays a key role here, we have great potential when it comes to offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. You cannot distinguish energy policy from security policy, emphasized the head of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sikorski: we will fulfill this role and we will continue to fulfill it for as long as necessary

Journalists asked Sikorski, among others: about Poland’s role in the future landscape of Europe.

– We did not want to be a center of support for Ukraine in its heroic defense against Russian aggression, this was imposed on all of us by Putin. But we will fulfill this role and we will fulfill it for as long as necessary, because the project of rebuilding the last colonial empire in Europe cannot succeed, he emphasized.

He added that Poland is a key country on the north-eastern flank of both NATO and the EU. – We are the only EU and NATO country that has a border with both Russia and Ukraine – noted the head of Polish diplomacy.
