The number of confirmed cases of infection with the omicron coronavirus variant in Denmark increased to 183 on Sunday, the local public health institute, the Statens Serum Institut (SSI) reported.
On Friday alone, 18 such infections were detected in Denmark, and 42 cases were identified as likely to be infected with the new coronavirus variant. The country is one of the most advanced in terms of detection of SARS-CoV-2 infections in Europe, the AFP agency recalled.
A spokesman for the Danish patient safety authority said on Wednesday that a person infected with the omicron coronavirus variant attended a concert in the city of Aalborg on November 27, attended by around 1,600 people.
The first four people previously diagnosed with omicron infection in Denmark all traveled to South Africa.
