During the weekend “One for One”, the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, Marcin Ociepa, spoke about the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border. He was asked about the information of the Border Guard, which said that shots were fired at the Polish soldiers by the Belarusian services. – Every day we note incidents in which Belarusian border guards make aggressive gestures towards our soldiers or officers of the Border Guard or the police – he replied.
Marcin Zaborski’s guest on Saturday’s “One for One” was the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, Marcin Ociepa (PiS club). He was asked, inter alia, about the words of the spokeswoman for the Border Guard, Anna Michalska, who, describing the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border, said that “the Belarusian services fired shots at Polish soldiers.” She noted that it was probably blank ammunition.
Ociepa was asked why Poland – in connection with these events – would not benefit from the assistance provided under Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties are threatened.
“We use the highest forums to signal this problem,” he replied. – In the North Atlantic Council. Both the president and the minister of national defense, and the minister of foreign affairs. Everywhere our ministers raise this issue – he assured.
Ociepa said that the information from the Border Guard “is not a new issue, contrary to appearances”. – We note almost every day situations in which Belarusian border guards make gestures simulating aggressive gestures, i.e. shooting – he continued. He also noted that “no ammunition was fired at Polish soldiers”.
He said that “the knowledge of the Ministry of National Defense is that almost every day there is a situation in which Belarus’s border guards simulate whether it is shots in the air or throwing grants”.
The program returned to the statements of the Border Guard, which stated that they had evidence that the Belarusian services had fired shots at Polish soldiers. What is this evidence? – This is a question for the Border Guard. Our soldiers have heard shots and heard shots every day, ‘replied Ociepa.
Zaborski asked whether there was evidence of shooting not in the air, but at Polish soldiers. “For some reasons, I will neither confirm nor deny this information,” he heard from Ociepa. “We know the situation one hundred percent,” he said.
– Every day we note incidents in which Belarusian border guards make aggressive gestures towards our soldiers or officers of the Border Guard or the police – he repeated. – Therefore, we also alert our NATO allies that our soldiers are also subjected to psychological pressure – he described. – We are also prepared for the militarization of this phenomenon – he added. He assessed that the situation at the border was “deadly serious”.
Should the government talk to the opposition on this matter within the framework of the National Security Council? – We consult the opposition permanently – replied Ociepa. He went on to say that asking about the RCN was a question for the president, not for the government.
