The deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense Paweł Bejda assured in the Sejm that Poland is not planning to send soldiers to participate in a possible stabilization mission in Ukraine. He said that six thousand soldiers were involved in the protection of the eastern border, and 17,000 are ready.
MP Andrzej Zapałowski from the Confederation addressed a question on Friday in the Sejm to the Ministry of National Defense regarding the possibility of sending Polish soldiers to participate in a possible mission of stabilization abroad. Emphasized that Confederation is against the involvement of the Polish Army to a possible mission on Ukrainebut – as he explained – it is about information whether the army would be able to issue this type of contingent at all; He reminded that, for example, throughout the entire mission in Afghanistan A total of 33,000 soldiers flew for the mission, and all armed forces worked for this effort.

In response, Bejda assured that the very discussion about sending troops to Ukraine is “simply premature”. He emphasized that for now it is not known at all what such a mission would look like, what forces from which countries could get involved in it.
“Serious challenge for state security”
At the same time – as he emphasized – a possible decision to send this type of contingent abroad – this is “a serious challenge for state security.” – Hybrid attacks are still underway to our border, led by the Belarusian and Russian regimes – he said. As he reminded, currently on the mission on the border with Belarus About six thousand soldiers are involved in “safe Podlasie”, and another 17,000 are ready to support colleagues on the border at any time, if necessary,
In addition – as Bejda said – Poland is already involved in a number of initiatives for the security of the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance. In addition to the protection of the eastern border, he mentioned the “East Targe” Fortification and Military Infrastructure Program, training in Poland, the involvement of Polish contingents in Poland Latvia and in Romaniaparticipation in the Baltic Sentry missions and the bay operation in the Baltic NATO Baltic Air Policing and in the air patrols of the eastern border – among others in the situation of frequent Russian fire of western Ukraine – under the so -called Operations Eastern aurora.
Bejda also drew attention to the role of Poland as a logistics hub, through which most of the support goes to the defending against Russia Ukraine. – We intend to play such a role in the future, because we define our responsibility for security in the region – he assured.
That is why – as he emphasized – the Polish government is currently not planning to send any strength in Ukraine. He referred to the prime minister's declarations Donald Tusk and deputy prime minister, head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz from the beginning of the week.
Bejda: Polish army ready to repel aggression
The deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense was also asked if the Polish Army has “at least one brigade” with full full -time states, which is properly trained and “able to use in a given direction within 24 hours”. Bejda replied that “the Polish army is a strong army and ready to repel aggression,” but – as he emphasized – this type of data is classified information.
