“In connection with the reports appearing in the media space about the possibility of losing funds by people who were persuaded to the advertised Janusz Palikot service I asked CASH for the control of tax settlements in projects related to Palikot,” Soboń wrote on Twitter.

In the next entry, he added: “According to media reports, the case may concern about 10,000 people who have invested their savings – PLN 140 million. The Financial Ombudsman wrote to the KNF and UOKiK regarding “Skarbca Palikot”

At the beginning of June, the Financial Ombudsman, Dr. Bohdan Pretkiel, addressed the Polish Financial Supervision Authority and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection with letters indicating a number of doubts regarding “Skarbca Palikot”.

As it was written in the press release, the RF “draw attention to, among others:

– doubts as to whether ‘Skarbiec Palikota’ does not mislead investors by using terminology characteristic of crowdfunding (loan crowdfunding), despite reservations in the offer documentation that loans offered under ‘Skarbiec Palikota’ are not such activities. This may lead to a situation where a potential borrower is convinced that such a project is implemented in accordance with Regulation 2020/1503 on European Crowdfunding Service Providers for Business Enterprises and the Crowdfunding Act, and that the investor is entitled to the rights arising from these legal acts; – doubts as to whether the company offering loans as part of ‘Skarbec Palikota’ has actually been operating extensively and for many years in the alcohol industry (only since January 11, 2023 has the company been active in the alcohol industry); – doubts about the financial situation of the company offering loans under “Skarbca Palikot” (lack of submitted financial statements); – doubts regarding the adopted model of financing ‘Skarbca Palikot’, which, in the opinion of the Financial Ombudsman, aims to avoid providing full and reliable information about the entity and its financial situation”.

The Manufaktura Piwa Wódki i Wina Group, managed by Janusz Palikot, manufactures and sells high-quality alcoholic products, including beers and spirits, as well as beers and other non-alcoholic beverages. The company planned to enter the NewConnect market.
