A person has been arrested and greater than 50 homes evacuated after suspicious objects had been present in Derby.

The navy was despatched to the scene after officers carried out a warrant in King Alfred Avenue, Normanton, at about 11.30am on Sunday.

A person has been arrested and stays in police custody, Derbyshire Police mentioned.

An announcement from the drive learn: “The Explosive Ordnance Disposal group are on web site and quite a few homes are at present being evacuated in King Alfred Avenue, Monk Avenue and Wolfa Avenue.

“Residents are requested to steer clear of the realm and people evacuated will probably be contacted when it’s secure to return to their properties.”
