The Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer on Sunday morning gave an interview to the British BBC station. He was asked by the journalist Laura Kuensssberg, among other things, whether he trusts Vladimir Putin. “No,” the politician replied. He explained that that is why he cares about safety guarantees for Ukraine.

The politician emphasized how important it is for him that the agreement was permanent and not only a temporary break in the fighting. Starmer also stated that he trusts both the President of Ukraine Wołodymyr Zelnski and the president USA Donald Trump.

The prime minister was also asked by Kuensssberg whether Zelanski “did something wrong”. – NO. I think he is a man whose country has been at war for three years – he replied. He emphasized that it was Ukraine who was attacked by Russia in 2022. Asked why Trump has not recently spoken so clearly in this matter, Starmer said he did not want to answer on behalf of the American president.

Starmer also said that Zelanski bravely serves his country since the start of the full -glass invasion. In the opinion of the UK Prime Minister, this time is for Europe “a real moment of fragility”. He argued that Trump was striving for lasting peace in Ukraine, despite his rhetoric and attitude towards Zelanski. “Everyone agrees with it, except Putin,” said Starmer.

The politician mentioned three things, which in his opinion are necessary to achieve lasting peace: American security, European security guarantees and strong and armed Ukraine. He added that the issue of a guarantee of safety from Americans is the subject of “intense” discussions. The prime minister announced that Great Britain along with France And “perhaps one or two other” countries will cooperate with Kiev to lead to a suspension of weapons. He assured that this agreement would be presented to the American side.
