Director Joel Souza Breaks Silence About Halyna Hutchins’ Dying

Director Joel Souza has issued a press release as he recovers from accidents sustained in an unintended on-set capturing, which led to the demise of his co-worker, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The 42-year-old director of pictures died after being shot by a prop gun that solid member and co-producer Alec Baldwin fired on the set of Souza’s movie Rust on a New Mexico ranch on Thursday, Oct. 21. Souza, 48, was handled at a hospital for his accidents earlier than being launched. Police are investigating the incident.

“I’m gutted by the lack of my buddy and colleague, Halyna,” the director stated in a press release to NBC News on Saturday, Oct. 22, in what marked his first public feedback in regards to the capturing. “She was sort, vibrant, extremely gifted, fought for each inch and all the time pushed me to be higher.  My ideas are along with her household at this most tough time.”

He continued, “I’m humbled and grateful by the outpouring of affection we’ve got acquired from our filmmaking neighborhood, the individuals of Santa Fe, and the lots of of strangers who’ve reached out…It should certainly assist in my restoration.”
