The president, by not agreeing to the nomination of ambassador Bogdan Klich, “weakens Polish diplomacy, the instruments of implementing Polish foreign policy” – assessed Jacek Czaputowicz, former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the PiS government in “Fakty po Faktach”. – I believe that the president is acting to the detriment of his political camp, and not only to the detriment of Poland's interests – added the former minister.

The guest of “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 was the former Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government PIS Jacek Czaputowicz. He commented on the dispute over ambassadors between the government and the president. On Wednesday, the parliamentary foreign affairs committee issued a positive opinion on the candidate for ambassador in USA received the former head of the Ministry of National Defense and senator of the Citizens' Coalition Bogdan Klich. Klich's candidacy is opposed by the president Andrzej Dudawho announced that he would not sign the ambassadorial nomination.

Due to the lack of agreement between the government and the president, Bogdan Klich will not be an ambassador, but a chargé d'affaires. According to the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this is important because “the status of an ambassador is always a first-class diplomatic representative”.

– If the president does not make a decision (approving the ambassador's nomination – ed.), I believe that he is weakening Polish diplomacy, the instruments of implementing Polish foreign policy. What's more – he will suffer the consequences, because because there will be no ambassador in Berlin or the United States, this (…) chargé d'affaires will have less opportunity to defend Polish interests – he said.

– This is the case in dozens, or at least a dozen, of places around the world, and in my opinion the president bears responsibility. This will give society something to think about, whether we want to accept such a dysfunctional system – said Czaputowicz.

“The president is acting to the detriment of his political camp, and not only to the detriment of Poland's interests”

– If the president continues such a policy, it is an action in favor of the Civic Coalition candidate for president, because it is such an obvious signal to society. Therefore, from an observer's perspective, I believe that the president is acting to the detriment of his political camp, and not only to the detriment of Poland's interests – assessed the guest of “Fakty po Faktach”.
