Disturbing results of sanitary inspection by the seaside. Bacteria in more than half of ice cream samples from the machine

Out of 160 samples of ice cream from a vending machine, analyzed by the sanitary-epidemiological station in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, more than half, i.e. 85, were questioned – RFM FM reports. In turn, in the coastal strip covering the following counties: Gryfice, Kamień, Kołobrzeg, Koszalin, Sławno and the city of Świnoujście, out of 85 ice cream samples, as many as 60 were questioned. Last year, significantly fewer, i.e. 42 percent, were questioned, and two years ago – 44 percent.

The sanitary inspectorate checked ice cream from a vending machine by the sea. More than half of the samples contained bacteria

No pathogenic bacteria such as salmonella were found in the ice cream samples. The tests showed that they were contaminated with bacteria above the norm. Enterobacteriaceaewhich indicates a lack of proper hygiene in the process of producing ice cream from a vending machine.

However, the sanitary-epidemiological station only issued an administrative decision in six cases ordering washing and disinfection of equipment and production surfaces, as well as the presentation of test results confirming that they were effective.

In June, the sanitary inspection office conducted a more general control campaign. At that time, over a period of 10 days, the Pomeranian Voivodeship checked establishments open type collective catering, i.e.: restaurantsbars, cafes, ice cream parlors and food trucks. 217 inspections were carried out, including 8 intervention ones. Officials issued 33 fines for a total amount of PLN 12,000 – the portal wgospodarce.pl reported in July, according to PAP.

“The most frequently detected irregularities were improper hygienic and sanitary condition of the premises, equipment and devices, improper food storage conditions, lack of possibility to identify foodstuffs, expired food, lack of current cleanliness, failure to follow procedures and instructions developed as part of good hygiene practices and good manufacturing practices and based on the principles of the HACCP system,” said the spokesperson of the Provincial Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in GdanskZbigniew Zawadzki.
