Dixie Chicks Founding Member Laura Lynch {Dead} at 65 After Automobile Crash

Laura Lynch, who co-founded the nation band once they debuted greater than 30 years in the past as the Dixie Chicks, has died in a automobile accident. She was 65.

The musician, the group’s former lead singer and upright bass participant, was killed in a head-on crash Dec. 22 on a freeway in El Paso, Texas, the state’s Division of Public Security instructed native outlet WFAA. The group mentioned an investigation into the collision is ongoing.

Present Chicks members Emily StrayerMartie Maguire and Natalie Maines, issued an announcement about Laura’s loss of life Dec. 23.

“We’re shocked and saddened to be taught of the passing of Laura Lynch, a founding member of The Chicks,” they wrote on Instagram, alongside a throwback ’90s video of the unique group performing. “We maintain a particular place in our hearts for the time we spent taking part in music, laughing and touring collectively.”

The Dixie Chicks have been based in 1989 as a bluegrass band, consisting of sisters Martie and Emily, Robin Lynn Macy and Laura. Their title was impressed by the band Little Feat‘s 1973 track “Dixie Rooster.”
