Dobrzejewice, Lubicz. First they hit him, and then they drowned him in the river. They said it was just a fox

On Wednesday (September 6), the police received a report about two men who drowned a fox in Struga Lubicka. Women who were walking in the area reported the matter to the service. “The men knew they were being watched. When they left, they justified themselves by stating that it was just a fox,” said Staff Sergeant Sebastian Pypczyński from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Toruń.

As Pypczyński added, the officers conducted an inspection, interviewed witnesses, and secured traces and evidence. They managed to reach a 65-year-old resident of the Lubicz commune, who was detained at home. The man was taken into custody.

“The officers charged the detainee with killing an animal with particular cruelty. The suspect confessed to committing the crime. After analyzing the evidence collected in the case, the prosecutor placed the 65-year-old under police supervision and obliged him with property bail,” added staff midshipman Sebastian Pypczyński.

On Friday (September 8), the second suspect was arrested. The 56-year-old was sitting behind the wheel of a Seat, which was stopped by the police for a road check.

“The officers detected a distinct odor of alcohol from him. They conducted a sobriety test on the man, which showed that his alcohol content was above the permille. The man lost his driving license and was taken to police custody. The police accused the resident of Lubicz, just like his friend, of breaking the same regulations and driving a vehicle while he was under the influence of alcohol. The prosecutor placed him under police supervision, and the 56-year-old also had to pay bail,” the policeman explained.

The court will decide the fate of the men. They face up to 5 years in prison.
